What if they're right?
by LovesDubs indid that mentality keep you in fear and prevent you from leaving?
how many times were we told that the kingdom halls would be our ark and that we needed to keep going to the meetings so that we wouldnt miss the announcement that the great tribulation was beginning and the doors of the ark were closing...even though the bible says nobody knows the day or the hour?
did any of you ever pray for your relatives to die so they would have a ressurection and not be destroyed at armageddon?

As time goes by, any thoughts like that get farther and farther away. Actually the only part of any of their stuff that crosses my mind now is if there is an Armegeddon, I'm toast. I'm working on the "if it does come, I'm dead anyway, so I might as well make the best of my life now".
I've talked to a therapist a little about my life change. He brought up the point that I'm healthier NOW than I was 1 year ago. Hmmmmmmm ... fading away from J.W. and I'm getting healthier. Makes sense :) -

Sorry for joining this topic so late.
As a newbie, I'm just starting that path to get to know everyone. But I can say this ... the welcome I recieved the day I joined and let some feelings out was overwhelming. I seriously shead a tear or two. To have others, who have no idea who I am, but could feel the same pain, and take the time to send some encouragement my way meant so much.
All my life I've been that shoulder for others to lean on. I'm still very much that way, but it's nice to be able to lean back once in a while.
I care, and in time hope to get to know many of you even better ... -

Which one are you? Do you think they are one in the same? What differences do you think exist between the two?
For me, I consider myself an 'X'. I have decided to leave and start a new life. I'm not what you would call 'active' against the faith, GB, teachings, etc. More of a moderate, I guess I concentrate more on where I'm going from here. A board like this and alot of the people here can help ones like me take those first steps.
An apostate to me is more active against the faith, GB, teachings, etc. I think of those that spend more time exposing the falsehoods. Apostates seem to have a little more 'purpose' in their life vs. the WTS. And while I have plenty of anger and hurt that has been caused by these people that claim they represent god, Apostates seem to have that 'hatred' that goes even deeper.
Just my two cents. But I'm a newbie, so I'd be real interested in your take on this topic. Thanks. -

Well I'm not proud of it ... but I'm in marriage #3. This one is going on 5 years, but because I have made the choice to fade away, and she still wants to be active, I can see this one ending at some time in the future. But I honestly believe, and we've actually talked about it, that it would be a friendly break. There would be no animosity or hatred. Just two people going down different paths.
Then what? I'm a relationship kinda guy. Even though I'd prefer (if/when it ever happened) to live with someone, I could see myself doing it again. -

by tfsm ini know this is slightly off-topic but i find alot of the discussion here somewhat depressing and most of it is far too cerebral for me.

Legal question

Get this. My X wants my 9 year old daughter to get baptized. My X claims that my little girl bugs her all the time to get baptized.
I told my X no, she's too young. My X claims a recent WT study supports the idea. Anyway, I'm kinda stuck because she lives with her. Now my X is claiming she will hold off to the next C.A. She claims she talked to her elders, told them I think my daughter is too young, and they said they didn't want any problems from me. (Never heard that one before.)
I was wondering if anybody knew of any legal recourse to stop this from happening. There has to be some cases somewhere with all the split JW families. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks -
